We will hand-write out your personalized card message in the card of your choosing - just be sure to include this message in the Order Notes section of the checkout page or by selecting the 'Handwritten Card' box on the product page. This way, the Gift Box recipient will feel the extra thought and care put into their special gift.

Gift boxes ship within one week - if you need your order to ship sooner, please give us a heads up by letting us know in the Order Notes section (below your card message) and we will do our very best to accommodate! 

We hand-package each gift set in a soft-feel, matte gift box that has a magnetic closure and is reusable. The top of the box has the Applewood logo in a metallic gold, while the front of the box is embossed with 'A Gift for You' - making the recipient feel extra special. Inside, the box has inspirational words embossed on the interior lid, with a short message about how clean our Applewood candles are. The home fragrance products are tucked in the box with an almond-hued krinkle paper. It truly looks beautiful!

Yes, as soon as your order is shipped, you will receive a tracking number. We predominantly ship via UPS. Please allow up to 48 hours for your tracking number to be updated with an estimated delivery date.

Unfortunately, once the Gift Box ships, it is up to the shipping company as to when it will be delivered.

While we can normally take a good guess as to when the package will be delivered, instances such as bad weather, weekends and holidays can all impact the final delivery date. If you do include the desired delivery date in the order notes section, we can try to ship it on a day where it will arrive on-time (using our best guess)!

Applewood Candles are hand-poured in small batches in Michigan.  

A beautiful burn is a mindful ritual. With a few simple steps, your Applewood candle will glow cleanly, safely, and luxuriously - bringing calm to your space and care to the ones you love (pups included!).

Trim Your Wick (Every Time)

For a clean, steady flame and minimal soot, trim your wooden wick to ⅛–3⁄16 in before every light. Use our Applewood Wick Trimmer: open trimmer fully, rest the base on the wax surface, and snip. We like to trim from left-to-right and then right-to-left for a perfectly even surface.

Why it matters: an untrimmed wick can self-extinguish or burn too high.

If the flame is too high (over 1 in): your wick is likely too long or the candle is in a draft. Extinguish, allow the wax to fully solidify, trim, and relight.

Practice Safe Candle Burning

• Always trim to ⅛ in before lighting.

• Never leave a burning candle unattended or use it as a nightlight.

• Burn for 2–4 hours at a time; never longer than 4 hours.

• Let the wax fully solidify and allow the vessel to cool before relighting (allow ample time - about the length of an evening).

• Keep away from drafts, vents, ceiling fans, and open windows.

• Place on a level, heat-resistant surface (a marble or ceramic coaster is ideal).

• Keep away from clothing, paper, curtains, and anything flammable.

• Keep out of reach of children and pets.

• Stop using when the silver wick clip is visible or ½ in of wax remains.

• Burning multiple candles? Space them 6+ inches apart.

• Using an air purifier (hello, Dyson)? Great - just keep your candle out of the direct airflow for the most even, beautiful burn.

The Melt Pool (Your First Burn Matters)

For best results, let the melted wax nearly reach the edges of the vessel—usually 2–4 hours.
With coconut-soy wax, a full melt pool may not appear until you’re halfway through the candle’s life - that’s normal and often self-corrects, contributing to a longer, cleaner burn.

Never Burn Longer Than 4 Hours

Burn sessions of 2–4 hours keep your candle performing at its peak. Longer burns can overheat the vessel, dull the fragrance, and create unsafe conditions.

Quick Troubleshooting

• Tiny or sputtering flame: Trim to expose fresh wood and remove loose char before relighting.

• Tunneling early on: Extend your next burn (up to 4 hours) to encourage an even melt; avoid drafts.

• Soot or smoking: The wick is too long or the candle’s in a draft - extinguish, trim, and reposition.

Restyle & Reuse Your Vessel

When ½ inch of wax remains (or the wick clip shows), your candle has reached the end of its life.

To clean: carefully pour hot water into the vessel, let it cool so the wax floats and hardens, then remove. Repeat if needed. Wipe with a paper towel and wash with mild dish soap; let dry.

Reuse ideas:

• Makeup brush or cotton-round holder

• Desk catch-all for pens and paperclips

• Tea-light or match jar

• Small floral vase or succulent pot (add drainage stones)

• Bathroom canister for bath salts or swabs

• Entry tray for keys and keepsakes
