Troubleshooting

How do I trim my wick?

Pinch the black portion of the wick using a wick trimmer! Our wick trimmers are made just for us, and are strong enough to cut through wooden wicks.  They are also designed to cut the wick to be the perfect height. Open your wick trimmer, rest the bottom on the top of the wax and snip for the perfect 1/8 - 3/16" wick! We find it best to do this from each side of the wick, for example, cutting the wick from left to right, and then again from right to left - this ensures an even surface.

Failure to trim your wick can cause the candle to extinguish itself, or in contrast, the candle flame could burn too high.

If your candle flame is burning too high (over 1 inch), you are burning your candle in a drafty location, or your wick has not been trimmed enough. In this case, extinguish your candle and trim the wick shorter. Allow melt pool to fully solidify, and then relight.

why is my flame high?

If your candle flame is burning too high (over 1 inch), you are burning your candle in a drafty location, or your wick has not been trimmed enough. In this case, extinguish your candle and trim the wick shorter. Allow melt pool to fully solidify, and then relight.

My candle won't stay lit - what do I do?

It sounds like your wick needs to be trimmed. Go ahead and trim your wick to 1/8" and try lighting again. It should light perfectly!

The extra ash on the wick can cause the candle to extinguish itself, and must be cleaned/trimmed before relighting every time.

My candle won't burn to the edge - what do I do?

Our coconut-soy candles are designed to 'almost' reach the edge for the first half of the candle lifespan, and then it will begin reaching the edge once the candle has been burned halfway down. If you are burning your candle properly, your candle will burn perfectly.

Sometimes, if you do not trim your wick, or only light your candle for one hour or less at one time, your candle may start to tunnel. Follow proper Candle Care on all consecutive burns, and your candle should self-correct, moving forward.

How long should I burn my candle for each time?

Each time you light your candle, we suggest burning for 2-4 hours. Never burn your candle for longer than 4 hours at one time.

If your candle begins to smoke or produce soot, this is a sign that your natural wood wick needs to be trimmed, and the ash should be removed. Extinguish your candle, let candle wax fully solidify for at least 4 hours and then trim wick to 1/8" before relighting.

Do you take the candle vessels back?

No, we do not, as we cannot risk the integrity of the glass. We strive to provide a safe candle-burning experience, and once a candle vessel has been used once, we cannot guarantee it is in proper shape to be reused again.

You can, however, use the vessel for other things, such as makeup or bathroom storage, desk storage, a plant holder, etc.
