Every candle is hand-poured in small batches in our Michigan studio, using thoughtfully sourced ingredients that are safe for your home, your family and your pets.

Applewood Candle Co. began after our founder, Allison, discovered the harmful ingredients often hidden in conventional candles while searching for safer options for her golden retriever, Magnolia.

What started as a personal mission quickly became a passion for creating aesthetically-pleasing, luxury home fragrance without compromising on clean ingredients.

Yes! All of our home fragrance products are non-toxic! Our candles are crafted with coconut-soy wax, FSC-certified wooden wicks and clean scents free from phthalates, parabens, Prop 65 chemicals, carcinogens, mutagens, and other unnecessary toxins.

Our commitment to clean ingredients began with our golden retriever, Magnolia. While no scented product should ever be edibly consumed by pets, our candles are formulated without many of the harsh chemicals commonly found in traditional candles, making them a thoughtful choice to be burned around pets.

Please note, we are not veterinarians, just pup-lovers who wouldn't allow anything unsafe around her own pup! If you are concerned, please consult your veterinarian. Both of Magnolia's veterinarians have approved Applewood candles!

Our candles are made with a premium coconut-soy wax blend, FSC-certified wooden wicks and carefully selected scents.

Yes. We thoughtfully incorporate essential oils into all of our blends, however, we don't believe that "all-natural" automatically means safer. In fact, some essential oils naturally contain compounds that have been flagged for toxicity, sensitization or other health concerns. That's why we evaluate every ingredient individually.

In some cases, a carefully formulated fragrance oil or aroma compound is actually the cleaner, safer choice. In those scenarios, we select the safest and highest-performing materials available, whether that's an essential oil, natural isolate, fragrance oil or aroma compound.

Every Applewood fragrance is rigorously screened and always free from phthalates, parabens, Prop 65 chemicals, carcinogens, mutagens, and other toxins, allowing us to create luxury home fragrance without compromise.

• What was broken? Did you have multiple candles in the order? Were all broken?
• A photo of the shipping box, and two photos of the broken candle(s).

We do need the order to be reported damaged within 48 hours of delivery.

Before each burn, trim your wooden wick to approximately ⅛–3⁄16 inch and remove any loose char. For best results, burn your candle for 2–4 hours at a time and keep it away from drafts. Proper candle care helps ensure a clean, even burn and maximizes fragrance performance.

In most cases, the wick simply needs to be trimmed. Before relighting, remove any excess char and trim the wick to approximately ⅛–3⁄16 inch. A properly maintained wooden wick creates a stronger, more consistent flame.

Tunneling is usually caused by extinguishing the candle before the wax has had time to melt evenly across the surface. Allow your next burn session to last up to 4 hours, away from drafts, to encourage a more even melt pool. Coconut-soy wax often self-corrects over time.

This is intentional. Our reed diffusers are filled with 4 ounces of fragrance, leaving airspace inside the vessel so the reeds can properly breathe and disperse fragrance throughout your space.

Depending on airflow, room size, and the number of reeds used, our reed diffusers typically last between 1 - 2 years.

However, if your reed is in a very high-traffic area, if reeds are flipped weekly or left near an air vent or open window, your diffuser may only last 6 months.

For a lighter fragrance experience, start with fewer reeds and add more as desired.
